This includes using local materials during the design phases, and incorporating other elements, such as 100% renewable energy to meet minimum LEED Gold certification standards, and reducing light pollution to meet “dark sky” guidelines. Another feature of the Red Sea International Airport’s innovative design is its lounges, which are divided into five small passenger lounges that can be operated independently or simultaneously depending on capacity requirements, reducing energy use continuously compared to the approach of operating all lounges at all times.
