Umrah is considered one of the great acts of worship and one of the important religious rituals in Islam, which is why Muslims around the world strive to perform it with joy, so it is necessary to know the steps of performing the rituals of Umrah to ensure that they are performed correctly to ensure that Umrah is accepted by Allah Almighty.

Steps to perform the rituals of Umrah in order are:

First: Intention and Ihram

Intention: Before starting Umrah, you must intend Umrah, and there are many formulas specific to the topic of the supplication of the intention of Umrah, including (Labbayk Allahumma Umrah), or (O Allah, I intend Umrah, so make it easy for me, unless I am prevented by a detainer, then my place is where You have prevented me), this intention is repeated in the heart and does not need to be out loud.

Ihram: To enter ihram from one of the specified spatial times, which are:

Dhu al-Hulayfah: The miqat of the people of Medina and those on their way.

Al-Juhfah: The miqat of the people of Ash-Sham and Egypt and those on their way.

Qarn Al-Manazil: The miqat of the people of Najd and those on their way.

Yallamum: The miqat of the people of Yemen and those on their way.

Dhat Irq: The miqat of the people of Iraq and those on their way.

Take a bath and wear the ihram clothes: For men: a white, unstitched izar and rida. For women: a loose, non-delicate jilbab with a sara that covers the chest and shoulders.

Say your talbiyah: After entering ihram, start by saying the talbiyah (Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayk, la shareeka laka Labbayk, inna al-hamd wa al-ni'mah laka wa al-mulk la shareeka laka). It is a special supplication that is said in the rituals of Hajj and Umrah.

Second: Tawaf

Tawaf around the Kaaba: Enter the Sacred Mosque and face the Holy Kaaba and start the tawaf from the Black Stone, and kiss it if possible, otherwise touch it with your hand or with your kubruk (finger) and wipe it.

Tawaf seven times: Circling the Kaaba seven times, making sure that the Kaaba is on your left (counterclockwise rotation).

Tawaf supplication: Supplicate to Allah Almighty during Tawaf for whatever good you wish for yourself and others.

You, dear pilgrim, should know that there is no specific supplication to be said in each round of Tawaf, but the pilgrim can supplicate with whatever permissible supplications he wishes.

There are some things that it is recommended for the pilgrim to do in each round:

Takbir: The pilgrim says Takbir at each corner and says: "Allahu Akbar", and at the end of the round he says before reaching the Black Stone: Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from the torment of the Fire.

Tasbih: The pilgrim glorifies Allah between the two corners and says: "Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest".

Supplication: The pilgrim supplicates with whatever permissible supplications he wishes.

Praying for the Prophet (PBUH): The pilgrim prays for the Prophet (PBUH) after every supplication.

Third: Walking between Safa and Marwa

Perform the walking between Safa and Marwa seven times, starting from Safa and ending at Marwa, in a jogging position - between walking and running.

The first round is from Safa to Marwa, the second round is from Marwa to Safa, and so on until the seven rounds are completed (starting from Safa and ending at Marwa).

It is recommended for the pilgrim to stand at Safa or Marwah facing the Kaaba, saying, “Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever performs Hajj to the House or performs Umrah, there is no blame upon him for walking between them.” Then he says, “There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. His is the dominion, and His is the praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is over all things competent. There is no god but Allah, alone. He fulfilled His promise, and aided His servant, and defeated the confederates alone.” He repeats this with the Takbir three times, then he supplicates as he wishes during the Sa’i.

Fourth: Release from Ihram

Shaving or trimming: After completing the Sa’i, men shave their hair completely, or trim it, while women trim their hair by the length of a fingertip.

Release from Ihram: After shaving or trimming, you can wear regular clothes.

After completing these steps, your Umrah is complete and it is recommended to visit the Prophet's Mosque in Medina if possible.

The things that invalidate Umrah are the things that spoil Umrah and take the pilgrim out of his Ihram and he must make it up. The things that invalidate Umrah include the following:

1. Sexual intercourse: whether with or without lust, or before or after Tawaf or during Sa'i.

2. Nail clipping: which is cutting some of the fingernails or toenails.

3. Shaving or cutting hair: whether from any part of the body.

4. Wearing sewn clothing: a man can wear any sewn clothing, such as a shirt and pants, while a woman can wear a niqab or burqa that covers the face.

5. Using perfume: by smelling it or putting it on clothes.

6. Hunting in the desert: by killing any type of wild animal, even if it is a permissible game, when not in a state of Ihram.

7. Marriage contract. Engaging or marrying a woman.

8. Covering the head for men.

Adhering to the steps of performing the rituals of Umrah accurately helps achieve the spiritual goal of Umrah and makes it acceptable to Allah Almighty.

The pilgrim is released from Ihram and can wear normal clothes and perfume if he wants. He can also visit Madinah.

Therefore, the Muslim must adhere to the steps of performing the rituals of Umrah mentioned above to ensure the acceptance of his Umrah and the validity of his worship.
